"In my experience I had the best care one could have.I had a total ball and socket joint replacement - before the operation I had excruciating pain , could barely move my arm.Now after surgery and physiotherapy my pain has almost gone and i can move my arm at quiet good range.I would strongly recommend any one who needs shoulder and elbow operation or consultations should have treatment from Mr Mark Falworth. Whenever I needed help and support it was always given and everyone in the hospital were very helpful."

Mr Falworth is extremely knowledgeable in his field and very professional. He listens to what you have to say and addresses any concerns thoroughly in a language that you can understand. His communication skills are first class and immediately puts you at ease. I went to Mr Falworth with a long standing frozen shoulder and was in considerable discomfort and my mobility was extremely poor. He carried out a Arthroscopic Release Capsule procedure on me which was very successful and I am now without pain and have my mobility back. I only wish that I had sought Mr Falworth's help earlier. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Falworth to anyone who has a problem with their shoulder.

For over 18months I suffered from a bad shoulder. I had a constant ache/inflammation on my shoulder which kept me up 3-4 times a night! I tried Physio therapy for a number of months and that did not work. I finally decided to seek expert advise and was referred to Mr Falworth. The MRI showed I needed to have a shoulder arthroscopy; distal clavicle/ACJ incision surgery. I had the surgery under Mr Falworth and now at 12 weeks post surgery I can say my shoulder pain has all but dissipated! I am able to sleep without any aches or pains which is such a relief and my shoulder mobility is back to normal. I wish to express my thanks to Mr Falworth and his team for taking care of me to such a high standard of professionalism and quality of care.

From consulting to performing the operations Mr Falworth has been understanding, patient and overall professional. He has a good bedside manner mixed with a direct approach when explaining the procedures and facts clearly.

Profile

My practice is solely limited to the multidisciplinary management of conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow. Patients’ needs, and the use of physiotherapy and interventional radiology techniques, are always considered before surgical solutions are discussed and utilised. All treatments are evidence based and reflect the exacting standards that I adhere to in my role as a Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

I qualified in Medicine from King’s College Hospital, London in 1996 and underwent my higher specialist orthopaedic training on the St Mary’s Hospital rotation in London. I then undertook a further two years of specialist Fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery in London, Austria, Australia and the USA.

I now provide a comprehensive service covering all aspects of open and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, including providing a significant revision service to other orthopaedic surgeons throughout the UK. I am widely published in the orthopaedic research literature as well as being the author of several text book chapters related to shoulder and elbow surgery. I am also a regular invited speaker at both national and international scientific meetings and instructional courses.

I am currently the elected Vice President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and was Clinical Lead to the Shoulder and Elbow Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital from 2012 to 2017. I was previously the elected Hon. Treasurer to BESS and I am currently the Chairman of the Instructional Course Committee, which is responsible for coordinating educational content for the annual Instructional Course for shoulder and elbow surgeons and AHP's in the UK. In 2018 I was also honoured to be awarded a prestigious BESS Copeland Fellowship in order to help project the work of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society internationally.
